BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A steady flow of southwestern air has kept temperatures well above average over the past few days. A high of 60 degrees was observed at the Boise Airport Thursday morning, breaking today's previous record high of 59 degrees set in 1934 and 1992.
This marks the fourth consecutive day of record high temperatures in Boise. On Monday, a high of 58 degrees broke the previous record of 56 degrees in 1967. Tuesday's high of 61 degrees broke the previous record of 59 degrees set in 2018.
Then, on Wednesday, we observed a high of 66 degrees. Not only did this high break the previous daily record of 61 degrees set in 1992, it also is the highest temperature EVER recorded in Boise in January. Yesterday was also the earliest we have reached 66 degrees in a calendar year. The previous record was Feb. 17, set in 1930.
A cold front will pass through our region this afternoon. The cooler air from this front will likely drop highs into the upper 40s on Friday.
